Artist Residency Programs

NYC Mural and Public Arts Residency
New York is legendary in its contribution to the global visual landscape in the forms of art that live outside, both sanctioned and unsanctioned, from spontaneous graffiti and street art to highly refined and institutionally funded mural commissions. This residency offers a hands-on opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative energy of one of the world's most influential cities for street art and graffiti. Over the course of the program, residents will take part in guided walking tours, visit studios and public art sites, engage in conversations with working artists and critics, and participate in practical workshops on mural-making techniques. Artists will also explore how to translate their personal art practice into large-scale, public-facing work-learning the tools, strategies, and collaborative approaches required to create impactful murals in urban spaces. The program culminates with residents designing and painting a public outdoor mural in collaboration with the program coordinator, applying what they've learned in a real-world context.
Program coordinator: Jenny Roesel Ustick is a prominent muralist.
