SVA at Cannes Film Festival
This program is an in-depth look at cutting-edge films screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Students will be exposed to an array of today's most dynamic cinema, and present during some of the conversations taking place around the festival's most successful films. Students will have direct access to the directors behind some of the most exciting productions featured at Cannes, as we will host several directors at the festival as guest speakers. Film screenings will be balanced with a close look at the writing of many influential film directors of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Akira Kurosawa, Oliver Stone, and Francois Truffaut. Students will keep journals as a means of reflecting upon the stream of films they will be viewing at Cannes. The course will culminate in a required final paper that conveys the student's experience at the film festival.
Note: An interview is required for acceptance to this program.Tuition includes: Festival accreditation, shared hotel accommodations, daily breakfast, American Pavilion membership (including panel discussions), welcome and farewell dinners.
