SVA in LA: The Film and Animation Behind-the-Scenes Series

SVA in LA offers students an opportunity to interact directly with some of the leading film and animation artists working today. The program includes visits to film and animation studios in the Hollywood area. Students will hear directly from visual artists who will discuss their roles in the production process, share their aesthetic and technical approaches to visual storytelling, and recount their personal journeys. Past studio visits include Walt Disney Animation Studio, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, Titmouse, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, and Fox Studios. Guest speakers have included: Animators Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe), Dana Terrace (The Owl House) and Alex Kupershmidt (The Lion King); film artists Bonnie Curtis (producer, Saving Private Ryan) Paul Kolsby (writer/producer, Ozark); Academy Award-winning artists Joel Harlow (special effects makeup artist, Star Trek) Michael Giacchino (film composer, Up) and Mark Ulano (production sound, Titanic).
Tuition includes: Double occupancy hotel accommodations; daily breakfast; shuttle transportation to and from the airport and hotel, and all transportation for studio visits; welcome and farewell dinners. This is a non-graded course, final grades will not be assigned.
