Secure Your Spot for Graduate Studies at SVA

Once you’ve received an offer of admission, you may find it helpful to refer to this overview of next steps to take you from the point of admission to eventual enrollment.


For more detailed information, log in to MyID, the School of Visual Art’s online portal, using the username and password listed in your acceptance email. From the Admissions tab on MyID, you can view a list of next steps, download important documents and forms, and access your SVA email account.

  • Submit the nonrefundable enrollment fee of $1,000 to Graduate Admissions by April 15th. Enrollment fees will only be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, as space remains available in your chosen program.


    Pay Online

    Go to sva.edu/enroll to make a secure payment online with a credit card or a U.S. bank account. Note that to pay with a credit card you must enter your billing address exactly as it appears on the credit card statement.

    You will be asked to enter the following information from your acceptance letter/email when submitting your fee:

    • SVA ID Number
    • Student First Name
    • Student Last Name
    • Start Term
    • Academic Level
    • Graduate Program


    Please note that partial payments will not be accepted. Housing deposits will only be accepted if an enrollment fee is paid.


    Note: A message will appear on the payment site if your transaction was not successful. Unless you see a message that states your transaction was not successful, please do not submit your payment information more than once.

  • Once you are registered, you will receive a bill for tuition and fees. Payment of this bill is due May 1, 2026 for students starting in Summer 2026 and August 1, 2026 for students starting in Fall 2026.


    You will also be able to view and pay your bill online by visiting the Billing and Payment section of our website.

  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education, making sure to list SVA’s Title IV code-007468 on the form. Once your FAFSA result is on file at SVA, you will receive a notification within 2 to 3 weeks to view your award letter on WebAdvisor accessible from MyID. If you have not yet submitted the FAFSA, you can do so online at www.fafsa.ed.gov


    Please note that only citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible for need-based financial aid.

  • Submit the nonrefundable $400 housing placement fee along with your nonrefundable $1000 enrollment fee to secure housing at sva.edu/enroll. New students will be placed in housing on a first-come, first-served basis.


    Please note that partial payments will not be accepted. Housing deposits will only be accepted if an enrollment fee is paid.


    Once your housing deposit is processed, Residence Life will email instructions for completing the online housing application to your SVA email address accessible via MyID. Students who have completed housing applications are placed in housing based on the housing deposit date, available spaces, and preferences.


    Housing assignments will be emailed starting in early June.

  • After submitting the nonrefundable enrollment fee, you will receive an invitation to access the Terra Dotta portal. Through Terra Dotta, you will submit the required financial documentation and be issued an I-20.   • If you have a language learning disability (LLD), contact SVA's LLD coordinator at 212.592.2098 prior to registration to discuss a recommended study plan.

  • If you are completing your undergraduate studies during the 2024-2025 academic year, you must confirm receipt of your bachelor’s degree by having an official, final transcript sent to Graduate Admissions prior to the start of classes Tuesday, September 2, 2025. 


    Please check in with your school Registrar to make sure that the transcript request that you make (after the semester is over) will provide a document that includes all final grades, GPA, credits, and the actual degree and date it is earned. Each school has a different timeframe for how quickly they can respond to these requests, so please be aware of that and let Graduate Admissions know of any updates or barriers.


    You will not be able to attend classes without this documentation on file.

  • Print, complete, and submit the FERPA Disclosure Form to the Registrar (not the Admissions Office), prior to the start of classes Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

  • Submit Health Form

    Print and complete the SVA Student Health Form.


    Email your completed form to health@sva.edu. Subject line must include your SVA Student ID number. To submit your form by fax: Fax your completed form to 212.592.2216.


    You will not be able to register for classes until this form is submitted and approved by Student Health and Counseling Services. You will receive an email once the form has been processed. Please allow up to 3 business days.


    International Students: After you pay the enrollment fee, the International Student Office will grant you access to Terra Dotta, the online portal where you will submit your financial documents (aka the DOF and VOF). If you have questions about this process, please contact iso@sva.edu.


    You will not be able to register for classes until you have submitted sufficient documentation through Terra Dotta.


    Registration

    Review your department course section in the Undergraduate and Graduate Registration Book 2024-2025 and then contact your department to register. Graduate department contact information can be found here.

  • The Fall 2025 semester begins on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.


    The Summer 2025 semester for MFA Visual Narrative begins on Monday, June 2, 2025.


    The Summer 2025 semester for MFA Art Practice begins on Monday, June 16, 2025.

  • From MyID, visit MyServices to access your Financial Aid Award Letter, grades, schedules, transcripts, and the Registration Book with real-time updates.
