2022 Animation Celebration Exhibition

School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “ANIMATION CELEBRATION,” an exhibition of printed film posters and film trailers by the BFA Animation class of 2022. Curated by BFA Animation staff, the exhibition will be on view from Saturday, May 7, through Saturday, May 27, at the Flatiron Project Space and the SVA Flatiron Windows, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City.
This exhibition celebrates the creativity of BFA Animation graduates who are about to embark on their careers beyond SVA. The film posters and trailers for their thesis films explore themes like love, relationships, family, gender identity, humor and the paranormal. Highlights from the exhibition include the following:
Alex Siple’s The Olympians is a fantastical, 1970s-set telling of Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow, who muses with other mythological deities about life and what dance means to her.
In Ari Johnson’s One Last Letter, Amanda must sort through her complicated emotions and find a way to move forward as she opens a new chapter in her life following the abrupt end to a toxic high school relationship.
Wungavu Tashmon Dimps JR’s Galaxy Gals tells the exhilarating story of intergalactic bounty hunters Trixie and Lunara, who sleepily fight the oversized outlaw taking over the local planet-side diner.
Jamya Hicks’ Rookie and the Rhythms finds a friendship forming between a rookie space cadet and the earthlings that teach them to let loose after crashing their dance-powered spaceship.
BFA Animation's Thesis Animation Celebration continues outside the theater in a gallery exhibition. See the film posters from the class of 2022's thesis projects on display at the SVA Flatiron Windows and Project Space and online in the virtual gallery exhibition.
