School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents the “2024 Animation Celebration Exhibition,” an exhibition of posters for corresponding short films created by students in the BFA Animation class of 2024. The exhibition will be on view from Friday, May 10 through Tuesday June 4, at the SVA Flatiron Windows, 133 W 21 Street, New York City. In conjunction with this exhibition, a screening of the animated short films will take place on Saturday May 11, at the SVA Theatre at 12 PM.

Each year, the exhibition showcases the creativity of BFA Animation graduates who are about to embark on their careers beyond SVA. This year’s thesis films and posters explore themes such as self-acceptance, relationship woes, extraordinary creatures and many others.

Department chair Hsiang Chin Moe, who has worked closely with the graduates throughout the thesis production, shares her excitement, saying, "The class of 2024 has been an absolute joy to collaborate with. Their stories are as diverse as their skills, and their camaraderie shines through in every aspect of their work. The posters offer a glimpse into their vibrant imaginary worlds, but the real magic lies in their animated short films.”

The BFA Animation program’s creative environment allows students to use the art form of 2D animation and imagination to tell stories with a unique vision, style and intent. Students in the program are challenged to be curious and open to collaboration and experimentation, while following the high standards of academic performance and professionalism. The curriculum – taught by industry professionals – covers all aspects of the production pipeline, from ideation to completion including creating, directing and producing individually and collaboratively.

The SVA Flatiron Windows is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00am–6:00pm. SVA Flatiron Windows is viewable from the sidewalk and accessible by wheelchair.
