The Blue Book is a work in progress which deals with issues of escapism, suicidal ideation, and alienation from the body. Enveloped in a hand-stitched cover and tied closed with a bow, the book slowly unravels into a near 14-foot-long panoramic containing a poem amid images and inserts. This piece calls to traditions, such as Romantic landscapes and Japanese Boro, which are juxtaposed with technological processes, creating a dialogue between past and present, blurring the line between hand-craft and mass-production. Tactility is important in The Blue Book, not only in its creation and concept but also in its consumption, as it is meant to be a physical book—an intimate object to be touched, handled, and passed along.
