Borrowed from Jean Baudrillard's essay of the same name, "Astral America" is an exhibition that addresses how the concepts of hyperreality and ethereality manifest in the contemporary notion of "America" as both location and ethos. The exhibition will interrogate the tension between phenomena of displacement and the lived experiences of citizens of a globalized world. Presented by SVA Summer Residency Programs and SVA Continuing Education.

The exhibition is curated by artist, photographer and SVA faculty member Keren Moscovitch (MFA 2005 Photography, Video and Related Media), and includes the work of Summer Residency Program alumni: SVA faculty member E. Adam Attia (BFA 2011 Photography), Alva Calymayor, Phyllis Dooney and Eto Otitigbe
