School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “The Senior Show,” a new exhibition featuring portfolio selections from the BFA Illustration and BFA Cartooning class of 2022, on view from Thursday, March 31 to Monday, April 18, at the SVA Chelsea Gallery, 601 W 26th St, 15th floor, New York City.

Curated by Anelle Miller, Executive Director, Society of Illustrators; Lauren Panepinto, Vice President and Creative Director, Orbit Books at Hachette; and Viktor Koen, Chair, BFA Illustration and BFA Cartooning, “The Senior Show” celebrates the accomplishments of these soon-to-be graduates, and showcases the multitude of illustration and cartooning specialties they will impact outside of SVA.

The artistic path after graduation is often full of existential milestones and breakthroughs in craft and direction. In preparing for it, students focused on fundamentals, developing their unique artistic voices and their drive to make pictures, tell stories and shape our visual culture. Their dreams are only realized by matching talent to opportunity, a crucial promise and proposition made to graduates and industry alike, actively promoted by exhibitions like “The Senior Show.” The rest is in their capable hands, instincts and imaginations.

The esteemed senior portfolio faculty for BFA Illustration and BFA Cartooning includes Nicholas Bertozzi, Steve Brodner, Marcos Chin, Joshua Cochran, TM Davy, Henrik Drescher, Jensine Eckwall, Lisk Feng, Frances Jetter, David Roman, Cecilia Ruiz Lopez, Anthony Macbain, Marvin Mattelson, James Otis Smith, Lily Padula, Matthew Rota, Yuko Shimizu and Vesper Stamper.

The SVA Chelsea Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Public access to SVA Chelsea Gallery is permitted during gallery hours if visitors show proof of vaccination, including booster if eligible (FDA/WHO-authorized) and photo ID, wear a mask and provide their contact tracing details. It is fully accessible by wheelchair.
