How We Move Forward Together is a 90-minute workshop where community designer Sloan Leo will discuss 10 insights for designers who want to accelerate just communities. The workshop is held in conjunction with SVA Continuing Education’s fifth annual Art & Activism event on Wednesday, November 3 (details to come).

This preview event and workshop is intended for curious designers who are committed to or interested in understanding how designers can accelerate justice, build community and advance equity.

During the workshop Leo will share insights about emerging trends in community design and create space for community building. Participants will be invited to create three maps:

  1. A map of their community
  2. A map of their practice and
  3. A map of interventions for evolving their practice.

Participants can prepare by:

  1. Reflecting on what was the most catalytic news and/or the most impactful experience in their community since the start of the pandemic (i.e. the George Floyd protest, the climate crisis, etc.)
  2. Making sure they have access to paper and sketching tools.

This event will be held online via Zoom. Registered guests will receive Zoom access details 24 hours prior to the start of the event. **Note: this is a ‘cameras on’ event.

Free and open to the public
