Heather A. Genovese, MS, LCAT, LP, a licensed psychoanalyst and creative arts therapist practicing in New York City, specializes in working with traumatized and dissociative individuals. Her lecture will address trauma and dissociation theory, as well as case material reflecting art therapy approaches to a patient with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). Attendees will learn what dissociation is, how it may present, how to differentiate normal and pathological dissociation, why dissociative disorders develop and how to approach them in treatment, particularly through creative arts. Heather is an adjunct professor at the Master of Science in Art Therapy Program at the College of New Rochelle and is a clinical supervisor at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy's Trauma Program. Presented by the MPS Art Therapy Department.
