‘DIMKA’ Screening and Director Q&A

MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media
214 East 21st Street, 1st floor, New York, NY 10010MFA Photography, Video and Related Media presents a screening of DIMKA, the story of an intimate friendship between filmmaker Victoria Campbell (MFA 2013 Social Documentary Film) and Dimka, a Russian transgender woman grappling with gender identity.
In every respect a paradoxical figure, Dimka herself is a study of an obsession with physical beauty, isolation and dictatorship. At once graphic and poetic, this vérité film is a portrait of a bold individual that lives out her nonconformity as she embraces ideologies that might be her own peril.
Victoria Campbell is a New York City-based filmmaker. Her work includes the documentaries Monsieur le President and House of Bones. Monsieur le President premiered at DOC NYC under New Visionary Directors. The film was also chosen for the Stranger Than Fiction series at IFC. Her short films and video work have appeared in galleries and festivals. Her editing credits include the PBS short, Andrew and Wendy. Victoria received her MFA from School of Visual Arts. She teaches in New York City public schools.
