Note: The date for this event has been changed from Friday, September 20, to Friday, September 27.

This lecture by author, clinician and MPS Art Therapy faculty member Lisa Furman (MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, LPC) explores how spirituality figures into the practice of art therapy. Using case studies and current ethical theory, Furman suggests how to address religious content in client artwork that may be in conflict with the therapist's personal spiritual beliefs. Other discussion topics include the potential for blurred boundaries and competency issues when integrating spiritual healing practices such as meditation, Reiki or yoga with art therapy. Following the lecture, Furman will sign copies of her new book, Ethics in Art Therapy: Challenging Topics for a Complex Modality (Jessica Kingsley Publishers). CECs available for ATR-BCs.
