MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with North Carolina-based conceptual photographer Eric Pickersgill. Pickersgill’s work explores the emotional and social effects of digital technology on human connection. Best known for his internationally acclaimed series Removed, Pickersgill uses a 4×5 view camera to create staged, black-and-white portraits of people frozen mid-gesture after their devices have been physically removed. His work has been exhibited at international museums, galleries, and art fairs, and is held in established art collections worldwide. He is represented by Rick Wester Fine Art (NYC) and has been featured by CNN, The Atlantic, Wired, and the BBC.

Starting in 2011 and after over 250 lectures, the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration Lecture series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists, and industry experts. The fall 2025 i3 Lecture season is curated and hosted by MPS Digital Photography faculty member Julie Grahame. Most past lectures are available on YouTube and Vimeo.
