MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with editorial photographer Henry Leutwyler. Born in Switzerland in 1961, Leutwyler is a self-taught photographer with a stubborn streak and unflappable love for the medium. His grandfather and father were both printers. He decided not to follow their path, instead to travel and photograph, soaking up colour and culture from around the world. After being rejected by one of Switzerland’s leading photography schools, he opened his own photo studio in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In 1985, Leutwyler moved to Paris, where he rapidly established himself as an editorial photographer. A decade later, Leutwyler moved to New York City. Leutwyler lives in downtown Manhattan.

Starting in 2011 and after over 250 lectures, the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration Lecture series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists, and industry experts. The fall 2025 i3 Lecture season is curated and hosted by MPS Digital Photography faculty member Julie Grahame. Most past lectures are available on YouTube and Vimeo.
