Marygrace Berberian: Art Therapy in Public Schools

A lecture by Marygrace Berberian, coordinator for the graduate art therapy program at New York University, who discusses how art therapy services in schools have effectively responded to the diverse and ever-changing needs of students.The Art Therapy in Schools Program at NYU has been providing art therapy services in public schools since 1997. Berberian provides an overview of the program protocol and discusses the benefits and limitations for practicing art therapy in educational settings, results from a two-year study examining the impact of art therapy on self-esteem, affect regulation and impulse control, and her current proposal for gaining more widespread recognition for art therapy in schools.
