This body of work, Counter Militant Archive, is a collection of video pieces and screenshot images that were appropriated and re-edited from the Israeli Military Film Archive. All the video pieces include footage taken by soldiers serving in the military, dating from 1948 to today. With the new edited videos, I am offering an alternative to the militant narratives offered by the original videos, and suggesting that a disturbance within the already existing corrupt system is crucial and urgent. Through the reimagination of the histories behind these performances of obedience, I create new spaces for experimentation, liberation, and shapeshifting.
