My family’s history, and my history, exists only in fragments. My body carries them all: colonization, erasure, harassment, and violence. I am their product. I am a testimony to survival. Ruminating on the idea of space, the inside and the outside, I reflect on the constant process of displacement and migration, that of my parents, siblings, and myself. My work considers the interior spaces I have inhabited, and the body in liminal spaces. I use archives, photography, screen-printing, installation and autoethnography as a form of disruption to investigate the transient spaces in which family histories and memories exist.

Mentor: Drew Sawyer, Curator, Photography, Brooklyn Museum

My mentor, Drew, has given an inspiring insight into my work and practice. He has provided me with profound questions that have pushed me to expand the poetic experiences within my work to connect with the larger discourse through presentation and narrative.
