In this Calendar series, I address my disconnection with home, how I seek an acceptance of life and explore a sense of alienation. For me, calendars represent my family’s history—how we grow apart and reunite, counting the dates in between. When photographing the objects in domestic spaces integrated into the rephotographed works, I always feel like an outsider inspecting my surroundings. By poking out each of the “dates,” this performance relieves my unspoken concerns. I consider this process a form of healing, and the last self-portrait reflects my new perspective.
