MFA Art Writing welcomes Brooklyn Rail co-founder and creative director Phong Bui, who will speak on “Occupy Rail,” a two-part endeavor which seeks to encourage and support motivated individuals in various cities in the U.S. to create their own Rail publication. "Occupy Rail" meanwhile stages one cycle of the Rail's production at a selected venue for one month, turning the Rail into a "social environment." This aims to be a consequential step following in the footsteps of artist Joseph Beuys' "social sculpture" and curator and art critic Nicholas Bourriaud's relational aesthetics.
