We are Home

Judi Zhang’s We Are Home explores the meaning of family at a time of social displacement in China, based on her experience of growing up with parents who couldn’t always live together. It uses the book format to achieve this, in a deliberate reference to the tradition of family albums and scrapbooks. The book combines Zhang’s own photographs from recent visits to her old neighborhoods and relatives with old family snapshots and other memorabilia.
