Residence Hopping: A Curatorial Affair
A panel discussion on the state of curatorial affairs in artist residencies, with Claudia Cannizzaro of Art Omi, Sean J. Patrick Carney of BHQFU, artist Agnieszka Kurant and Laurel Ptak of Triangle Arts Residency. Moderated by Bosko Boskovic of Residency Unlimited and Jovana Stokic, deputy chair of MA Curatorial Practice.
As the availability and influence of artist residency programs has increased, the role of the curator has changed. The demands of this new relationship between curator and residency challenge the ethical and aesthetic responsibilities of the curator. Topics of discussion include whether residencies need in-house curators, how curators-in-residence can meaningfully organize exhibitions and how artists react to curatorial direction in residencies. Presented by MA Curatorial Practice and Residency Unlimited.
