Seeing the Light

Every artist works in a preferred medium and as photographers, our medium is light. For us, the awareness and control of highlights and shadows creates the illusion of depth in two-dimensional images. Light has several variables that we also must take into consideration when capturing our images. These include light’s direction, intensity, color temperature and quality. A professional can see the light, determine if it is ideal for the task at hand and then modify or substitute the source to create the perfect image.
This presentation by photographer Paul Bernstein is designed to raise your ability to see the light, select the correct photographic tools and utilize the proper lighting techniques to create three-dimensional portraits, candids, scenics or still life images every time you press the shutter. The content is applicable to those at every level of photographic experience, as light is our common denominator.
Paul Bernstein has been a professional photographer for over 40 years, during which time he has photographed over 2500 social functions, many theatrical events and countless portrait sessions.
