Exhibition

The School of Visual Arts presents "The Thin Edge of the Wedge,"* an exhibition of work by the BFA Visual & Critical Studies class of 2017, curated by Soloway Gallery co-directors and department faculty Annette Wehrhahn and Emily Weiner (MFA 2011 Fine Arts). The exhibition is on view Saturday, January 21, through Saturday February 11, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City. 

Twenty fourth-year students have contributed thesis projects in diverse mediums including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, installation, film and writing. Each work reflects a unique and pointed expression of a young artist on the cusp of emerging from college into a larger public, where their works will engage with the cultural, the political and the social. It will be young artists' responsibility to pry open and expand contemporary discourse and—as suggested by the title, "The Thin Edge of The Wedge"—make those small contributions that ultimately lead to major developments and change.

Participating artists include Hanna Ahlgrim, Chaerin Ahn, Chelsea Blake, Zhiwei Chen, Jennifer Soowon Choung, Cassidy Clingman, Nicole Della Costa, Margo Greb, Morgan King, Caitlin Ladd, Francesca Lucania, Lily Maslanka, Jiwon Na, Noëlle Nichole, Megumi Ozaki, Wilson Philippe, Ritcheor Romulus, Eli Siegel, Daria Tuberman-Solon and Tianshi Xiao.
