This fall, beginning September 2, SVA Galleries will open its 2025–26 exhibition season with “Wavelengths,” a juried show of work by 15 alumni artists from seven of the College’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Jointly presented by SVA Alumni Affairs and Development and SVA Galleries, the exhibition highlights the breadth of artistic inquiry and achievement among recent graduates while reaffirming the College’s commitment to showcasing alumni voices within its community.
A panel of alumni jurors selected the 15 participating artists from submissions by New York City–based graduates from the classes of 2010 through 2020. Their work spans drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, with a shared emphasis on process and the pursuit of joy amid adversity.
“SVA Galleries serve as a unique and vital space for the entire SVA community to exchange ideas, explore new perspectives, and celebrate creative excellence,” state SVA Alumni Affairs and Development Director Jane Nuzzo and SVA Galleries Director Tyson Skross. “Through ‘Wavelengths,’ we are proud to spotlight the achievements of our alumni and create opportunities for them to bring their real-world experience back to campus, enriching the community they helped shape.”
In conjunction with the exhibition, SVA will host related programming, including a performance and workshop by Georgia Lale on Saturday, September 27, an artist panel discussion on Thursday, October 2, and an artist career roundtable on Tuesday, November 11.
The participating artists are Gabrielle Benak (BFA 2019 Fine Arts), Alex Cassetti (BFA 2016 Photography and Video), Sophy Chang (BFA 2019 Fine Arts), Jeong Hur (MFA 2020 Photography, Video, and Related Media), Ray Hwang (BFA 2016 Illustration), Georgia Lale (MFA 2016 Fine Arts), Victor Liu (MFA 2014 Art Practice), Jing Lin (MFA 2018 Photography, Video, and Related Media), Ivy Johnson (BFA 2018 Illustration), ShinYeon Moon (MFA 2017 Illustration as Visual Essay), Francena Poyo-Ottley (BFA 2019 Photography and Video), Vanessa Powers (BFA 2013 Fine Arts), Paul Rho (BFA 2019 Photography and Video), Carra Seals (MFA 2020 Fine Arts), and Christine Stiver (MFA 2017 Art Practice).
