The School of Visual Arts celebrated the arrival of new and returning students to campus for the 2025–26 academic year with the kickoff of its annual Welcome Week, running this year from Sunday, August 24, to Sunday, August 31.

SVA’s Welcome Week offers a full schedule of events and activities designed to introduce students to SVA, New York City life, and the peers, faculty, staff, and facilities that will shape their SVA experience. Since moving into the residence halls, this year’s students have enjoyed a lively lineup of events, including drag-queen bingo, comedy and karaoke nights, a dance party hosted by the student-run WSVA radio station, an Amazing Race-style competition, and a back-to-school raffle with the SVA Campus Store

New students have also been introduced to key resources across the College, including Career Development; the International Student Office (ISO)Student Engagement and Leadership; Student Health and Counseling Services; SVA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and the SVA Library.

Opportunities to explore the College’s specialized facilities—including BFA Fine Arts’ bio-art lab and fibers lab, and BFA 3D Animation and Visual Effects’ production studio—provide an introduction to the spaces and technology that will support their work in the years ahead, and Q&As, workshops, and informal meetups.
