Check out the imaginative and high-profile work of five SVA students, some of whom are about to graduate and head out into the workforce.
May is here, classes are over, summer is almost upon us, and our commencement exercises are right around the corner. As SVA students prepare to either graduate, enter the workforce, or take the summer off to revitalize themselves in preparation for next semester, we have selected five Instagram accounts that typify the hard work talented students of the College are producing year-round.
1. Caitlin Du (MFA Illustration as Visual Essay)
Du makes comics and editorial illustrations with ink on paper and vibrant colors. She describes her work as “expired childhood,” owing to their balance of naive nostalgia and dark motifs. Though her illustrations are vibrant and whimsical, they often depict difficult themes such as family trauma, isolation, and death.

2. Jake Breiter (BFA Comics)
Jake Breiter is a cartoonist and illustrator who goes by the pseudonym “Monty Mulberry.” Breiter, who won the SVA Alumni Society Bob Guglielmo Memorial Award, aims to reunite childlike curiosity and fascination towards the unfamiliar with the adults we all aspire to be.
