These five women artists—all 2026 Alumni Scholarship Award winners—are on the cusp of joining the professional ranks as they prepare for Commencement this May.

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the contributions of women across history, culture, and public life. At SVA, it is also an opportunity to spotlight women-identifying artists and students whose work reflects the range and energy of the College’s creative community.
This year’s selection is particularly special: every artist featured is a recipient of the 2026 Alumni Scholarship Award, a prestigious honor given to talented students to support their final thesis year. As these five creators prepare to cross the stage this May and officially join the alumni ranks, their portfolios offer a glimpse into the future of the industry. From animation and digital image-making to sequential storytelling, here are five SVA Instagram accounts to follow this month.
1. Fangzi Luo (BFA Illustration student)
A Chinese artist based in New York, Fangzi Luo works across mixed-media installation, painting, and graphic design. She serves as the U.S. Cultural and Artistic Promotion Ambassador for Wuhan National Lacquer Co., Ltd., where she explores the fusion of traditional lacquer techniques with modern materials. A frequent exhibitor at the SVA Chelsea Gallery and Flatiron Windows, her practice is defined by a sophisticated atmospheric control that earned her the Fan Favorite prize in the 2025 HOPE Art Competition.
