BFA Visual and Critical Studies presents “Dangle and Glisten,” an exhibition of photographs by Katya Fine (BFA 2016 Visual and Critical Studies). This exhibition, co-curated by BFA Fine Arts and BFA VCS faculty member Peter Hristoff (BFA 1981 Fine Arts), will be on view from Friday, May 9, through Friday, May 30, in the SVA Flatiron Project Space, 133 West 21st Street, with an opening reception Thursday, May 15, 6:00 - 8:00pm.
“Dangle and Glisten” offers moments of contemplation in the immediate aftermath of loss. Acting as a meditation on unwanted isolation and the slow acceptance of grief, these photos are a reflection of a life paralyzed; minutes in which those left behind understand they are now, in some regard, on their own. Paired with instances of recognition through mimicry and dabbling in the belief of continuous energy, this collection of photographs allow all to walk the line between the unwillingness to accept a new normal and the understanding that it is all we have. This exhibition is free and open to the public.
