Members of the SVA community who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (see the full list of COVID-19 symptoms here), or any illness symptoms, are urged to meet with a health-care provider and then quarantine as directed. Locations of in-person urgent-care facilities near the SVA campus can be seen here. Virtual urgent-care providers include:

• NYU Virtual Urgent Care (accepts Cigna)
• City MD Virtual Care (accepts Cigna)
• Mount Sinai NOW Video Urgent Care ($25 consultations; does not bill insurance)
• New York-Presbyterian ($49 consultations; does not bill insurance)

COVID-19 Testing 

The City encourages all New Yorkers to get tested now, whether or not you have symptoms or are at increased risk. SVA community members who are on campus this semester are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 monthly.

Free, walk-in testing is available at these NYC Health + Hospitals locations and mobile testing sites. COVID-19 Express Testing Sites are free, by advanced appointment, and provide results within 24 hours. The nearest Express Testing Site to SVA’s campus is located in Chelsea. It is highly recommended that you check the site in the early morning to make an appointment for your preferred date, time and location.

SVA Student Health and Counseling Services staff are all operating remotely via secure online sessions while the campus is closed. Current undergraduate and graduate students can make appointments Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 3:00pm. To make an appointment, please fill out this form. Career Counseling: Appointments for one-on-one sessions are available by Zoom or phone call, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, via our booking site. 

Online Resources: Many career-related tools and resources are available through the website including the SVA Online Job Board, industry-specific resources for each major, and general resources on topics including freelancing, portfolios and salary negotiation. Another key service is SVA Portfolios, a site where students and alumni can upload and display their work for employers to view.

Internship for Credit Program: Applications for summer internships for credit are now open and we are available to help students navigate the current job market and submit their ICP applications.

MyID

MyID is the single sign-on and multi-factor authentication solution at SVA. The MyID dashboard provides links to commonly used College applications, including SVA email, G Suite Drive, Canvas, Zoom, MySVA, the SVA Campus Store and the SVA Library.

Canvas

Canvas is the online learning management system at SVA. To access Canvas, log in to your account at myid.sva.edu and click on the Canvas icon. 

Once logged in, you will find all of your active courses under “Courses” in the left-hand navigation bar. The course titled “Student Knowledge Base” offers answers to commonly asked questions, video tutorials and study tips.

Zoom 

Zoom is a remote conferencing service that combines video conferencing, online meetings, chat and mobile collaboration. Zoom has removed the 40-minute time limit for schools affected by the coronavirus.

To access Zoom, log in to your account at myid.sva.edu and click on the Zoom icon. 

Office 365

Office 365 is available for all faculty and staff through MyID. However, before using this new tool, you will see a banner message with a green button in MyID telling you that one of your apps needs a plugin. Follow the prompts to install the plugin or “extension” to your browser and begin using Office 365 on your laptop or computer.

SVA Library 

The SVA Library offers a number of online collections, databases and distance learning resources. To access the SVA Library online, log in to your account at myid.sva.edu and click on the SVA Library icon or visit library.sva.edu.

Office of Learning Technologies

SVA’s Office of Learning Technologies (OLT) has established online office hours for faculty and staff who need assistance with online educational or working tools.  

OLT staff are available from 10am - noon and 2 - 4pm Monday through Friday. Click on this Zoom link during those hours to connect with an OLT staff member.
