Calling all photographers, photo-curious and those passionate about the medium! SVA is giving you many opportunities to dive deeper into photography this month with exhibitions and events that are sure to stir and inspire.

Currently on view at the SVA Chelsea Gallery, “The Masters Series: Lynsey Addario” is a celebration of the highly regarded Pulitzer- and MacArthur "Genius Grant"-winning photojournalist who has been documenting humanitarian crises around the world for more than 20 years. Addario’s career retrospective exhibition covers everything from her early work capturing NYC trans sex workers to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, climate change, women's issues, and, most timely, the war in Ukraine. This must-see exhibition has already been heralded by NY1, Vanity Fair, Katie Couric, The Art Newspaper, and many more.

At the SVA Gramercy Gallery, it’s your last chance to take in an exhibition from the MPS Fashion Photography class of 2022. This presentation of thesis work is on view through Monday, September 19 and includes a stunning array of photos from what could be the next generation of artists to capture a Vogue cover or a spread in Interview. Though the show is only up for a few more days, keep an eye out for these talented photographers in a future editorial near you.

The next installation at the SVA Gramercy Gallery, “Dot Dot Dot,” showcases the work of the MPS Digital Photography class of 2022. Curated by New York City gallerist and SVA faculty member Debra Klomp Ching, these captivating works will be on view from Wednesday, September 28, through Monday, October 17. Among the exhibiting artists is architectural photographer Xi Chen, who was recently named the winner of Architizer's One Photo Challenge. An especially fascinating aspect of this particular graduating class is that nearly all of them deferred their admissions to the program for a year so they could be together in person. Program chair Tom P. Ashe says of this coincidence, "They waited for the timing to be right. They waited so they could be physically with our faculty, our community and each other here in New York. Upon seeing the exhibition, we think you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”

For those looking to learn something new, MPS Digital Photography's i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series will welcome respected photographer Chris Buck on Tuesday, September 27. Known for his distinctive portraits and his work with clients including Coca-Cola, Google, Microsoft, GQ, The New Yorker, Guardian Saturday and The New York Times Magazine, Buck will offer industry insights and share a glimpse of his practice and share industry expertise. Hosted by guest curator Michael Foley, this free public event takes place at 136 West 21st Street from 7:00 – 8:30pm.
