Welcome, Veterans

In our undergraduate program we offer the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in eleven different disciplines; and in our graduate program we offer the Master of Arts (MA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), the Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) and the Master of Professional Studies (MPS). SVA is honored to welcome veterans to our campus. SVA is a Yellow Ribbon Program participating school.

Applying for VA Benefits

Once accepted, follow the steps below to utilize VA Benefits:


Step 1: Apply for VA Benefits

  • Visit VA.gov.
  • Submit the application and wait for VA processing.


Step 2: Register for Classes


Step 3: Receive Your Certificate of Eligibility (COE)

  • The VA will mail you a COE, or you may sign in to your VA.gov account to access your COE.


Step 4: Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to SVA with your COE

  • The Letter of Intent notifies the school’s VA Certifying Official that you would like to use your benefits.
Life At SVA: SVA Student and Veteran Nikki Woods (BFA 2020 Design & MPS 2023 Art Therapy)

Nikki Woods (BFA 2020 Design, MPS 2023 Art Therapy) spent eight years in the U.S. Army. A newly minted alumni, she also served as the President of the Veteran Coalition of Arts—a collective of veteran-artists whose work reflects personal experiences as a way to shape their artistic practices—during her time at SVA.

Veterans are eligible for a 20% tuition discount on all continuing education courses. The veteran discount cannot be combined with any other discount offered through the Continuing Education division. Search continuing education courses.
