Fire Season
20 minutes
Director: Lydia Erickson (SocDoc Thesis Grant, SVA Premieres: Best Of 2022)
★ SHOWCASE SPOTLIGHT
In the aftermath of the 2020 wildfires, rural Napa residents must decide whether to defend, rebuild, or leave their properties altogether. Land that once felt safely nestled into the forested hills of California’s wine country, now faces severe threat. Residents and grape growers contend with material and psychological effects of chronic wildland fire. Emotionally raw interviews, glimpses into the wine industry and into Napa’s partially burned forests ground the theoretical concept of climate change in the lived experience of fire season.
