Drawing is the first tool of many of the visual arts. This course will cover the essential skills and concepts of drawing, including one- and two-point perspective, basic anatomy, contour and cross contour, sighting, negative space and composition. Students will work with charcoal, pencil, and pen and ink. Sessions include time devoted to a combination of acquiring new skills and personal expression, in a nonjudgmental environment.

Note: Please bring a drawing pad (18"x24" and no newsprint), ebony pencils, a pencil sharpener, erasers, and a wooden yardstick to the first session. This course is held on campus at SVA.
