Artist Residency Programs
SVA’s Artist Residencies offer artists, designers and creative thinkers time, space and a supportive community in which to develop ideas and focus on their artistic direction, with summer programs on campus in New York City, as well as year-round in online formats.
In addition to our time-honored studio residencies, a variety of innovative professional immersion programs provide opportunities for artists to explore new areas of social and technological practice and engage critically within their field.
A unique combination of creative and professional resources provides a rich environment for growth and opportunity in the current, vibrant art scene.
On-campus housing is available, as are opportunities to display work.

Non-matriculated students are not eligible to apply for the F-1 student visa. Further questions about visa status can be directed to the International Students Office at iso@sva.edu

Refund Policy
There is a $500 cancellation fee for withdrawal in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the program. There will be no refunds for withdrawals requested less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the program.
To withdraw from the program you must notify the coordinator of Artist Residency Programs, in writing, of your intention to withdraw. You may do so by emailing your withdrawal to residency@sva.edu or by sending written notification via mail or fax. The Division of Continuing education is located at 209 East 23rd Street. All refunds for payments made by American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa, will be credited to the appropriate credit card account. Payment made by check or money order will be refunded by check, payable to the registrant. Processing of refunds takes approximately four weeks.
The $500 program cancellation fee is non-refundable. The effective date of the withdrawal or cancellation is the date that the program coordinator receives written notification. Lack of attendance alone does not entitle a student to a refund.
Refunds, less the non-refundable program fee, are made after the prorated percentages of liability are applied. Prorated housing costs are based on the check-out date, not the official date of withdrawal or cancellation.
The prorated percentages of liability (tuition and fees owed) are based on the official date of withdrawal or cancellation, as follows:
Residency Program Tuition Policy
0% liability if withdrawal occurs 15 days before the program begins
100% liability if withdrawal occurs 14 days before the program begins
Nonrefundable Expenses
From time to time, the School of Visual Arts may find it necessary to cancel an intensive or residency program, or make changes to scheduling or faculty. If this occurs, the School of Visual Arts will attempt to give notice to those students who are registered for the affected program, to the e-mail address provided by the residency participant in their registration materials. It is the residency particpant's responsibility to keep the College advised of a current e-mail address at which they may be contacted. If a program is canceled, or the schedule or faculty for a residency or intensive are changed and as a result of the change the residency participant no longer wishes to attend the program, the School of Visual Arts will reimburse to the student the tuition and course fees for that program within the guidelines of the Residency Tuition Policy published on this website, but will not be responsible or liable for any other expenses that the residency participant may have incurred, including but not limited to transportation and housing costs and the purchase of materials and supplies.
